Parents and Carers
Parenting and caring for an autistic child can bring so much love, but it can also bring moments of uncertainty, worry and exhaustion. Sometimes, despite doing everything you can, you may feel as though you’re running out of ideas or trying to decipher what your child is trying to communicate.
My approach is rooted in understanding, compassion and acceptance. Rather than focusing on what your child should be doing, we can work together to understand what is underneath their behaviour, what they may be communicating, and how you can feel more confident and connected in responding to them.
I can provide a space to step back, pause, reflect. Through counselling and coaching, we can explore your experiences, thinking together and collaborating on a bespoke package of support for both yourselves and your child.

SUPPORT PATHWAYS
Therapeutic support
A safe space to understand, explore and grow
As a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, I offer therapeutic support to children and young people who may be experiencing anxiety, emotional difficulties, overwhelm, low self-image, social skills development and/or challenges in making sense of themselves and their experiences. I work with both neurotypical and neurodiverse children and young people. My specialist area is autism.
I use an integrative approach, including creative and expressive ways of working where appropriate, to help children and young people communicate and explore what may be difficult to put into words.
The focus is on helping them develop greater self-awareness, emotional understanding, confidence and resilience — while recognising and valuing who they are.
Working Together
I can work with families, schools and professionals to develop a shared understanding of the child's experience. Depending on the individual circumstances, this may include:
Consultation
Exploring the child's strengths, needs, experiences and current difficulties. I offer a free initial consultation for parents and carers (up to 30mins).
Environmental Adaptations
Considering what adaptations to communication, routines, expectations, sensory environments and relationships may be helpful.
Family Support
Providing parents and carers with a space to make sense of what is happening and consider possible next steps.
School Consultation
Working collaboratively with education professionals to develop a more individualised understanding and approach.
Therapeutic Support
Where appropriate, offering therapeutic work to help a child or young person explore anxiety, emotional wellbeing and their experience of school.
